Unique Updates to Your Holiday Table

You’re tired of the same old holiday table decor—red and green tablecloths, a nativity scene from the 80s, and Santa centerpieces that could give you nightmares. While it’s “traditional” to put up the same box of stuff every year, it’s time to make some new traditions with your Holiday table!

Your interior design concept sets the tone for your holiday season. I always recommend starting by pickling a theme or a color combination to set the direction. There are plenty of ways to tweak or add to your holiday decorations to blend old traditions and new innovations. You can spread elegant Christmas cheer without breaking the bank.

Small Changes Make a Big Difference

Don’t feel pressured to buy a whole new china or serving ware. Simply add elements from your current stash. If your grandma’s basic china doesn’t align with your aesthetic this year, just add a few vintage glassware pieces to refresh the look. Mixing old pieces with new will add a layered effect to your table and memories.

Another option to achieve this is to change up less expensive elements from your table settings, like napkin rings, napkins, or tablecloths. These elements are essential for a holiday tablescape that makes a statement. Ask yourself, what can you add to make my table feel fresh and new?

Natural Materials are Beautiful and Budget-Friendly

Pieces of decor from nature can be a beautiful and organic addition to your spread. Pull some ideas from your natural surroundings. Best part of this tip is that you don’t have to keep these pieces forever! Next year you can go for a completely different look. Here are a few ways to achieve this organic and cheerful look:

  • Tie bundles of herbs like thyme or rosemary to add a little greenery and a subtle aroma to your table.
  • Pick items from your garden or in-season fruit and arrange them in a decorative centerpiece.

These natural additions are also environmentally friendly, we love that too!

Add a Centerpiece to Bring It Home for the Holidays

Use an interesting item in the center of the tablet to help strike up conversation. Check out some organic and unique shapes in our inspiration board below. It could be an antique candlestick, a vase with unique textures, or a live-edge slab of natural wood. I strongly believe in making the table, and the centerpiece, unique to you. What is in your garden? Can you add a piece that brings holiday memories? Craft it as a present to your loved ones!
