Are you Ready to Simplify your Home?

We don’t have to go full minimalist but simplifying our spaces is a great exercise to enjoy our home a little more. It’s time to throw out all the clutter and give your space a spacious, open design. This really captures the feeling of a blank canvas with endless potential.

While decluttering yourself may seem tempting, at Twin Interiors, we can take an objective approach to help you declutter your space. You may feel attached to your kids’ piles of drawings or cupboards of Tupperware, but we aren’t! Staying neutral and supportive, we’ll help you reduce the clutter in your life.

We may have you try the Marie Kondo technique when decluttering your space; this involves:

  1. Emptying your drawers and closets and putting everything into a pile.
  2. Sorting through each item one by one.
  3. Determining whether you really want to keep it, toss it out, or donate it.

While the Kondo technique may make it difficult to get rid of some things, the catharsis that comes with the space you create will make it all worth it. And when you need support, we are right there with you.

As we help you create your minimalist space, this is an opportunity for us to organize and label your items. We’ll label your spaces, so everyone in your house knows where things go. For example, we might set up a command center or label a row of baskets near the front door for everyone’s shoes. A clearly defined space enforces good habits of reducing clutter.

The Minimalist Mindset in Every Room

When we break down and categorize tasks by each room of the house, it feels much more manageable for you to live in that minimalist mindset. Let’s talk about a few of the toughest rooms to tackle:

1. Foyer

We can help you create a drop station! A drop station is where you can unload things when you come home or grab them when you leave. This can be a basket for your keys and anything you need to take with you on your errands, like letters you need to drop off at the post office.

2. Living Room

We can help you craft a careful and intentional decor display in this room—your most beloved conversation starter for guests. And put everything else away!

3. Bedrooms & Closets

In the bedroom, we like to apply the one-year rule. If you have an article of clothing that you haven’t worn in more than a year, get rid of it!

To help you know which items to remove from your space after a year, we can help you create an organized clothing rotation system.

We can also help you unify your hangers; we encourage you to use only one style and replace any that are different. Doing so takes up less space and creates a uniform look.

Crying for Help?

If the clutter in your home feels too overwhelming, it’s okay to hire help! Along with Twin Interiors, there are cleaning services available in Austin that make house calls. Such services can help you organize your space and even tackle cleaning out the back of your fridge. That way, you can spend all that extra time planning your new Spring room design
